Wichita Athletic Development Clinics
SESSION II – Summer 2008

Clinic Descriptions

All Sport SAQ Clinic – Level I
Speed, Agility, and Quickness (SAQ) are probably the most sought after qualities by coaches in the majority of sport. The adage “you can’t teach speed” couldn’t be further from the truth. At our SAQ clinic we will address proper technique for improving linear speed, acceleration, and lateral movement. This clinic is for those athletes without a considerable training base.

All Sport SAQ Clinic - Level II
This clinic is for those who have completed SAQ I or have a considerable training base. The techniques taught in SAQ I will be advanced and more progressive. This clinic will take the athlete to the next level in speed development.

Strength and Power Development Clinic – Level I
One of the most controversial and misunderstood topics in athletics is the period at which to begin young athletes in resistance training programs. Resistance training is vital to any athlete’s success, but proper technique and basic understandings are imperative to limit injuries and improve performance. The S/P I clinic will teach basic techniques while providing a safe and fun environment.

Strength and Power Development Clinic – Level II
This clinic is for those who have completed S/P I or have a considerable training base. The techniques taught in S/P I will be advanced and more progressive.

Beginning with the basic footwork, players will have their approach, swing, and follow-through broken down, piece by piece tweaking and fine-tuning where needed. Optimize game-time speed by performing quick net transition drills as well as learning to better “read the blocker.”

Libero 101 (Grades 9-12)

Learn the probable locations a Libero must identify with for each kind of hit, and become familiar with boundary lines and your location on the court.
